A well-shot and directed telling of a claustrophobic tale which turns from thriller to horror story by the end. Only if you can't suspend your disbelief will it fail to keep you watching. Go to Full Review

Excellent performances from the cast elevate this otherwise slightly flawed a hokey interloper story. Go to Full Review

"Retreat" would actually work better as a play since it has a limited setting, four characters at most and director Carl Tibbetts would be less tempted to amp up a heavy-handed score. Go to Full Review

Retreat sports some high-caliber actors in a claustrophobic home-invasion thriller a la Straw Dog that offers up some truly thrilling moments. Go to Full Review

Jay L. @Jay.Livin Mar 9 This is a good movie overall. With the small cast and very limited locations they filmed at I’m fairly impressed with the film. Cillian, Thandiwe & Jamie’s acting really saved the film. The acting was great, at first I really thought Jack was evading the Military because he went “crazy” or committed some sort of crime and made up the whole disease to convince Martin and Kate to stay with him on the island because they would’ve gave away his location. The ending was good I wasn’t expecting Kate to die like that it honestly left me in shock for a minute but I understand that the military would do that in the real world to contain a disease they had a hand in letting get out into the world. The only thing I’m just a little confused about is how Martin dies from the disease but Jack was fine and if Doug and Mrs. Doug had the disease why didn’t they show any symptoms? I would’ve liked a little more information about the disease and how it affects different people but it’s still a great film.
