Kenneth Turan Los Angeles Times The accumulation of detail, the sense of the range of outrages seen and experienced, is conveyed by allowing these women to truly sink into their narratives. Nov 20, 2018 Full Review Dave White TheWrap The approximately 270-minute running time becomes a hushed demand for the viewer to sit with historical cruelty and listen as its victims teach to the future, its effect a cumulative cry of warning for today. Nov 14, 2018 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com Even without a lot of cuts for time, each story is perfectly paced, and filled with little details that big-picture histories tend to miss. Rated: 4/4 Nov 14, 2018 Full Review Nora Lee Mandel Film-Forward.com Lanzmann's original intent was to step-by-step document the Final Solution, so female survivors were seen only briefly. s r I saw this thinking it was Shoah, another holocaust movie. I was surprised after when I found out they have the same name. I figured it wasn't the right one when it wasn't nine hours long. Regardless, this documentary still records four resilient women's narratives of their lives and Nazi occupation of their varying countries. I was at times touching and contrasting to have very different accounts of the same time period. It was a STG DVD. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Stories that must be told, but more importantly, must be heard. It is simply unfathomable, the evil that ruled Germany, and the atrocities that these women survived. Thank you for ensuring that their voices are being heard. We must never forget, and we must push back against the incessant propaganda that exists in 2019. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews
