Robson C Kim é uma repórter que vai investigar o suicídio de uma jovem que se jogou de um prédio, com parte do corpo em chamas. As suas investigações a acaba levando a culto de bruxas a Lilith. Neste ponto, não temos mais os serial killers e os filmes da franquia deixam de ser slasher movies para abarcarem outros subgêneros do terror. Como aqui, onde temos bruxaria, cultos e body horror. É nítido que esse filme não tem nada a ver com a franquia. Parece ser mais uma ideia do diretor Brian Yuzna que ofereceu para a franquia e fez as adaptações para se passar no Natal. Mas tirando umas 2 ou 3 cenas onde aparecem presentes e árvores de Natal, não tem nada a ver. Aqui houve um pouco mais de orçamento, em relação aos três primeiros filmes, principalmente nos efeitos visuais e maquiagem, já que Yuzna usa muito de body horror nos seus filmes. Analisando o filme como um filme de terror sem ligação com a franquia, o filme falha em não criar toda um ambientação que envolve filmes de bruxaria ou culto. Mas mesmo assim, consegue ser um pouco melhor do que os outros filmes dessa franquia. Rated 1/5 Stars •  Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/27/24 Full Review Ian why is this movie in this franchise? this has nothing to do with the franchise at all. think of it as its own movie, and it's a pretty damn good movie at that. this is a weird mindfuck with sick effects and creepy bugs. it's a really well made and unique movie with great performances and a pretty cool concept. this may be my favorite in the franchise so far. it's so batshit crazy and random. this felt like an A24 movie. i had no idea going into this movie that it was going to be about a cult and massive bugs and had nothing to do with christmas besides decorations, there's not even a guy dressed as santa in this one. i kinda wish this was its own movie, i feel like if this movie was just called "Initiation" a lot more would know about and it might've even been a cult classic. again such a good movie that i highly recommend. We get no Santa but we get a ton of gross cockroaches and a huge worm/maggoty thing. I don't like this trade off.
