Sequel di cui probabilmente si sentiva il bisogno ma che sbaglia completamente ad interpretare tale richiesta, sfornando un prodotto lontano anni luce dal primo originale e di successo capitolo. Viene quasi totalmente dimenticata quell'ironia a tratti satirica che aveva contraddistinto la prima opera, mentre il progetto si sposta di fatto su un classico film sci-fi che altro non fa che ricalcare in modo molto sinistro uno dei capitoli della saga di Alien. Tolta però la satira, quel che resta è un cast di basso livello con una sceneggiatura poco interessante.

It's just a worse version of the first movie. The atmosphere is there, and the actors are just as bad, but the kicker is the practical effects are worse, and there is only one set. Were the first movie cost $105,000,000 to make, this one only cost $7,000,000 and it shows. It's all left over props. In all, it's just a worse version of the first movie, and space among us, not good, not bad.

Much the same only not quite as good is the big message from this film, which doesn't really add a whole lot to the first film. Like most sequels, this is primarily just a cash grab. However, I did like the use of mind control bugs that climb into people's mouths then take over not only their brains but their whole bodies, ultimately turning them into more mind control bugs. It is a horror genre that I really enjoy, though this one wasn't proper horror as it didn't really have anything scary or gory. Nonetheless, the genre was still there. Look, it wasn't bad, but it is a sequel and it was pretty predictable as a sequel. Even the lead actors of the first movie didn't bother to show up! Ugh. At least it's good for people who might want to play one of their computer games based on this and want some lore. Oh and a lot of this does look like StarCraft, as if StarCraft's designers watched this and created their game based on it. Hmm. Anyway, not too bad, but I gave it 6 1/2 out of 10.

This sequel carries only shards of the original's personality or meaning and they too are entirely lost in a godawful, narratively limited script inundated with cardboard characters, cringe-worthy dialogues, piss-poor attempts at aping the first film and cliched subplots including a tasteless expansion of Arachnid lore, while the acting is so spectacularly unconvincing you're constantly reminded you're watching cosplay. If it weren't for the decent effects, this would've been utterly abominable.
