Oldman and Penn were amazing, 100% believable as best friends, Harris chewed scenery as well as anyone, great writing, great characters and acting , Superb! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/31/23 Full Review ANDREW P A forgotten movie that shouldn't be. With a great cast and filmed in "Hells Kitchen", the scenery brings it all together. Sean Penn and Gary Oldman are great along with Robin Wright, Ed Harris, John Turtorro and John C. Reilly they form an outstanding and believable ensemble. The plot is a bit played out but the acting and cinematography make it a must see crime film. Definitely worth watching! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5. Sheila Benson Los Angeles Times Every indulgence, including a two hour and 14 minute running time, is on display. Rated: 2/5 Jan 3, 2012 Full Review Variety Staff Variety A handsomely produced, mostly riveting, but ultimately overlong and overindulgent gangster picture. Mar 26, 2009 Full Review Derek Adams Time Out A hugely impressive piece of work for a young director previously known for his documentary U2 Rattle and Hum. Feb 9, 2006 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy It's (mob) business as usual, elevated by forceful turns by all the principals, particularly Gary Oldman as a twitchy live wire who's fiercely loyal to friends and family.
