Audience Member A Iraqi woman whose entire family is killed by an American raid journeys to Turkey to find her injured brother. This is a dark, dreary, depressing, peripatetic film that seems to take as long as it would take one to walk from Kirkuk to Istambul. While the subject matter is appropriately treated -- after all, the film deals with war, colonization, and terrorism -- the main character's lack of any uniquely discernible qualities is what drags the film down the most. Cennet, though we sympathize with her plight, isn't much of a character, and her third act decision doesn't resonate emotionally because we've only seen what has been done to her rather than figuring out who she is. Additionally, during her journey I thought, "This plot would be really cliche if, in addition to everything else, she gets raped." Sure enough, not long after that idea occurred to me, she gets raped. The one departure from the drear is the jihadist cleric who appears in the film's second act. He's a departure from the drear because he's unintentionally comical; the man is the human form of Jabba the Hut, complete with the Santa Claus laugh and the crazy eyes. Ayrıca Irak bölgesinde ki çekim mekanları bir hayli zorlu ve cesaret isteyen yerler. Bu açıdan film ekibi zorlu bir işi başarmış. Bence oyunculuklar ve senaryo olarak iyi çalışılmış bir film. Muhteşem Yüzyıl'da Sümbül rolünü oynayan Selim Bayraktar bu film için iyi bir seçim çünkü kendisi Kerkük'lü. Fakat süresi çok azdı. Yönetmen bu oyuncuyu daha iyi kullanılabilirdi. Rana Cabbar her zamanki gibi ilginç konuşma şivesi ile ilgi odağı idi. Çok iyi yapımlarda oynamış Selen Uçer'i bu yapımda zayıf gördüm. Ama sürpriz oyunculuk; daha önce hiç kamera karşısına geçmemiş Suzan Genç'ti. Profesyonel oyunculara taş çıkartacak potansiyelle oynadı. Mimikleri, ağlaması, duruşu ve bakışı ile süperdi. Sinemacı abilerinin olduğu bir aileden gelmesine rağmen neden daha önce oyunculuğu keşfedilmemiş anlayamadım doğrusu. İlerde çok iyi bir oyuncu olabilir. Filmin konusu da yakın bölgemizde cereyan eden talihsiz Amerikan işgalinin Irak'taki bireyler üzerinde oluşturduğu baskı ve açmazları konu ediyor. İzlenmesi tavsiye olunur...
