Audience Member Interesting start but then you realise one very key omission; what the person is being held for. The Chinese would do this if you called the president a name whereas the Americans were doing it post 9/11 because they had almost 3000 people murdered. Context is everything. It's revealing to see just how much times have changed. Lumet's 1964 Fail-Safe was a terrifying cautionary tale about a glitch that causes nuclear holocaust. It was made at the height of the Cold War tensions existing between the U.S. and the Soviet Union during the early 1960s. Strip Search tackles tough questions of civil liberties and was made at the heigh of post-9/11 abuse of Abu Ghraib prisoners. It was cut from 120 minutes to 56 and aired only once on HBO and further scheduled airings were canceled.
