This filmed version of a stage play revolves around the long friendship and correspondences of three early 20th century intellectuals: the playwright George Bernard Shaw (Patrick McGoohan), the nun Laurentia McLachlan (Dame Wendy Hiller) and esteemed museum curator Sydney Cockerell (John Gielgud). Presented almost entirely in the form of letters and writings, the film illustrates the scope of topics the friends covered throughout their long relationship, despite ideological differences.

Audience Member Done in the format of a play (rather than as a movie). Three lifelong friends write/visit with each other and build on their friendships through both hardships and joy. Excellent acting by the major players. Thoroughly enjoyed this and recommend it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
