The Dunes is more contemplative than what its premise calls for. Copping’s decision to make two films into one is clever, as it proves his ability to do drama and also works as a backdrop for a compelling personal journey.

A great indy crime thriller brought together by an intriguing plot and wonderful acting performances by Copping and Phillips. The Dunes also shows that Copping is a director to watch.

Worst movie I've seen in ages. The main character is so clueless that I was happy when he got killed. The main bad guy is so awkward that it doesn't make any sense that anyone would interact with him on their own will. The dream scenes are redundant & annoying, the memories ones even worse, with a horrible blue filter. Music is flat & boring. I created a rotten tomatoes account just so I can give that movie a bad review, that's how bad it is.

Although it's a slow-paced film, it kept me on edge the entire time, and I couldn’t look away. It’s hard to capture just how good this movie is without giving too much away, but if you're even slightly interested, I highly recommend watching The Dunes.
