Audience Member Much of the movie is very good. But about central title theme, about light bulb life, well, they fell for an internet hoax. There is a solid excellent reason that bulbs are "designed" to burn out after only 1000 hours. It is easy but stupid and illegal and immoral to make a very long life bulb because of the extremely high energy usage. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member The film that disproves that thought that "Planned Obsolescence" is nothing more than an urban myth. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A good documentary about planned obsolescence. Recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Rather interesting that an Edison-time bulb continued to live until now. Generally, the film is supposed to be about consumer society and what fuels it, but too few facts had been gathers to prove the conspiracy theory of the author. This so called "programmed obsolescence" is the basis in which our economy is developed, but, what happens with environment? And common sense? The story starts with a light bulb in the United States which has been providing light since 1901, and continues now: why our light bulbs, then, only last for 1000 hours? A must-see documentary.
