Ryan Donowho is unwell and needs strict attention. Fortunately I'm available. Beyond his acting ability, he has that look that very few actors achieve without resorting to homelessness and eating Pop Tarts as meals, except that he's homeless...and probably eats Pop Tarts as meals. I can think of 2, maybe 3 others who have or had it: James Dean, James Franco...and Ryan Donowho.
I'm tempted to think that there's something of himself in this movie; some part of Eddy was wrought in Ryan's angst. He reminds me of someone I knew in my late teens and early twenties. Someone very good looking, very out there, artistic, edgy, cool and miserable. But misery loves company and I loved his company, too. Our losses weren't corporeal death like Eddy's was, but separation from familiarity is a kind of death itself. Like Eddy, there wasn't much solace for us that didn't involve someone else getting hurt, and that was usually me.
I liked this film, as I've liked all of Ryan Donowho's films, but this one made me cringe a bit...from familiarity.

Talky, pretentious & bland. Ryan Donowho however shows he could actually (tried to, at the very least) act rather than just displaying his pretty face as he did in ãThe O.C.ã.

An interesting West Coast vibe is injected into the emerging mumblecore scene in this piece of film-making haiku. The basic narrative is hackneyed youth soap material, but its subtle and elliptical treatment sets it apart.

The camera angles were pretty good and they had some great shot but that was about the only real postive in the movie. It started to slow and then it didnt really seem to have much of a plot. Once you finally caught on to what happened a HUGE part of the movie seemed to have been left out. You want to feel bad for the characters but you really cant because this part of the movie was left unexplained. The questions will never be answered, i finished the whole film surprisingly but i still have no idea what happened to his friend. It was very depressing, no funny part or thing to really bring up the mood.

admittedely, i couldn't finish it. i tried. so hard. i was so excited to see it. and i lasted for as long as i possibly could. but an hour into the movie and i still didn't care about any of these characters. it's a good looking film. with a great score. and some great actors. but nothing comes of it. plus, the dvd is so horribly interlaced that it's almost unwatchable.

A musician disappears mysteriously after the death of his friend at sea and leaves 3 people behind in his life.
Eddy, a traveling musician stops by his friend Barron's house to catch up on his sudden disappearance over the past year, and asking to stay at his house. Which causes problems between Barron and his girlfriend Farah. Last is Eddy's friend Chelsea who is an inspired painter. Over the year that Eddy has been gone all his friend's careers have taken a turn from when they last saw each other. Barron hates his job as a guitar maker, but is so accustomed to it, it has become routine in his life and can't quit. Farah has been a ballerina since a child, but her age becomes a factor when she doesn't have the strength to carry on. Chelsea wants to be a famous painter, but decides to go to grammar school to teach children.
Where this film suffers is from the lack of dialogue and depth of dialogue. Which doesn't make the film a lot to talk about. Each character in the film does not have enough lines or emotion for the viewer to get attached to the character or non the less the story. The film consists of slow moving conversations, and only some partake in the overall story, which isn't much. Yet the feel of the character's conversation feels real, and seem like something in reality. The cinematography is actually quite good for the environmental element. Viewing the surroundings, and making everything outside feel like an 80's skate video. With emphasis on the sky and rays of the sun.
In conclusion the film is weighed down by lack of conversation, depth, and character development, but is uplifted by the film's sense of realism and unique cinematography.
