Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times Unfortunately the film, directed by Leon Marr needs more pep in its step, could use some judicious trimming and... features an unmemorable, under-drawn group of resident seniors, a missed opportunity to help flesh out... this slender, tender tale. Dec 14, 2018 Full Review Brad Wheeler Globe and Mail Sinatra sang that it's more comfortable the second time you fall, Dean Martin sang "that's amore," and Yogi Berra said that it's not over until it's over. Those who get those references are bound to get this film. Rated: 3/4 Mar 24, 2017 Full Review Bruce DeMara Toronto Star A film that's pleasant enough but never achieves the level of emotional resonance that Marr was aiming for. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 23, 2017 Full Review Jorge Ignacio Castillo The Canadian Crew Most of the comedy falls flat and, when it doesn't, it's too gentle to register. Rated: 2/4 Jan 30, 2020 Full Review Brian Thompson The Young Folks This heartwarming tale keeps its narrative sweet and simple as it explores a brand of love that rarely makes its way to the silver screen. Rated: 7/10 Dec 18, 2018 Full Review Frank Ochieng ScreenAnarchy [A] gently exuberant and inspiring mature romancer. Nevertheless, the main ingredients that allow The Second Time Around to effectively resonate are its two veteran leads in the always radiant Linda Thorson and spunky Stuart Margolin. Audience Member The greatest 01 hour: and 47 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Although it was a bit slow moving, as seniors who have been married only 15 years, it was very enjoyable. There's so little out there that strikes a cord with us. Their mutual love of music and struggles with her breaking her hip, her adult daughter dismissing her to a nursing home for rehab, or taking much of an interest in her life as she was busy, yet her granddaughter found the time to delight her. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I love watching love stories featuring older adults. And this one was very sweet! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Wonderful film, shows seniors as people not demographics. Love, loss, family stress, friendship, remembering what is important in life Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review dave d What was a really good and original idea turns into an off the rails finish with some giant plot holes. Husband and wife were in complete agreement. It's the kind of movie you like until you don't. A love story at an assisted living facility, 'Second Time Around', is a well-acted tale with either relatively unknown players or ones that have been out of the spotlight for a very long time. That's probably one of the reasons few people have seen what is a really good film for the first two acts. Despite the plot gaps in the movie's final 20 minutes, I was still ready to really like this until not only did the movie end several times (watch through the final credits), but for the second ending the viewer is supposed to suspend the reality they have been given for 90 minutes and forget everything they've watched for an unexplained musical sequence. All of the negatives, We're giving this a tepid recommendation! Wife & Husband: 6.5/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I love this movie! Never give up love, you can find it at any age! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
