Jane Freebury Jane Freebury An ambitious but uneven policier that wants to be both knockabout buddy movie and action-packed drama with serious, contemporary themes Rated: 3/5 Oct 5, 2021 Full Review Graeme Tuckett For all its weaknesses and occasional lapses into cliché, The Stronghold should still get you through a couple of hours, entertained and mostly engrossed. Sep 24, 2021 Full Review John Serba Decider The Stronghold is an immersive, gripping drama that's much more than just the suspenseful, brilliantly staged action set piece that occurs smack-dab at the movie's halfway point. Sep 22, 2021 Full Review JK Sooja Common Sense Media In this slickly-produced and strongly-acted thriller, lots of buildup leads to nowhere. Rated: 2/5 Sep 21, 2021 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation For a cops-and-drug-dealers thriller, it can be frustrating. Rated: 2/4 Sep 18, 2021 Full Review Shikhar Verma The Cinemaholic [The Stronghold] tries to say something but doesn't have the tools or the right political messaging to deliver it clearly. Stef R Slechte film. I think this is one of the best movies, and best thrillers, I've seen in a long time. Acting and production excellent, very engaging. Really heartbreaking, too. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/07/23 Full Review T T Excellent French movie. Great story, plot, dialogue, and acting. I enjoyed every minute of it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/14/23 Full Review Gabriel S Before the review, I need to complain a little: I hate most of the titles they choose for the version published in Brazil. Most of them use the original title with some silly subtitle. In Brazil, BAC Nord, The Stronghold in the United States, became BAC Nord: Under Pressure. Ridiculous. BAC Nord is a depressing film. We quickly sympathize with the good guys: Greg, Yass, and Antoine. They are from the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC), a police department ruled by the sameness of being a shadow of organized crime. Their day-to-day comes down to brushing ice, as we say in Brazil. But things change with the possibility of being able to settle accounts with the criminal organization that rules a residential complex. The catch is that all this needs to happen under the hood. We follow the good guys on this journey. The mission is simple and, overall, little happens. Half the movie is character development. Things get complicated starting from the middle of the movie. The situation is tense enough to keep us hooked on the film. The story also seems reasonably convincing to the point where we don't question the progression of events. The plot twist, although expected, happens naturally and causes a strong impact. I liked the approach the screenwriters used to unfold the facts of the final conflict. The only negative point I raise is that nothing serious happens. Even the final conflict doesn't result in anything really bad. I don't recommend this movie if you're looking for frantic, wild action. This is a slow movie about frustration, friendship, corruption, and injustice. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/18/22 Full Review Audience Member Part thriller part true story drama. Worth a watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Gianmarco R Really very nice and entertaining film that manages to take the viewer and drag him into the action making him especially fond of the three protagonists. Maybe it lacks a bit of rhythm in the prison sequence, but otherwise it's a really good movie Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/22 Full Review Read all reviews
