Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review simon d Pretty good story although some of the actors were a bit annoying. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A sobering and sad story of the terrible cost of a lack of moral fiber. Not a happy yarn, but it's been well-acted, and afterward you'll feel as if you've been at sea for a week. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member As intended, a thought provoking film, which gradually looses its comic elements to become a darker thriller. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Well what a little gem this is, one of the best films I've seen in a long time. Peter Mullan is an outstanding actor but the performances from all the cast and an incredible performance from the (I assume) non-professional Chinese girl are all brilliant. A simple but gripping story examining the motivations and feelings of all characters involved. Brilliant. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member It's actually a pretty good movie. I never heard of it, just come across it by chance on TV. Life is hard for trawlerman, money comes with a price, quite depressing, but the story is good. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Sukhdev Sandhu Daily Telegraph (UK) The daily struggles of life at sea, as well as the almost manic revelries indulged in to forget about it, are evoked with dark wit. Rated: 2/5 Sep 14, 2007 Full Review Stella Papamichael BBC.com In many ways it's a disturbing story and Hudson offers few gestures of absolution, but those tiny chinks of light are all the more powerful because of it. Rated: 4/5 Sep 14, 2007 Full Review David Walsh World Socialist Web Site The filmmaker is obviously driven by important concerns, and has found a means of representing them, at least in part.
