The idea is to bring father-child stakes into all this mayhem, which works to a degree. But in the movie’s desire to wring tears...The film winds up having it both ways once too often. Go to Full Review

Ultraman: Rising will likely touch viewers, especially ages 10 and under, for its story of a young man trying to be a good dad while also reconnecting with his own estranged father, in what ultimate becomes a parable about responsible parenting. Go to Full Review

Ultraman: Rising may be a kaleidoscopically color-timed action adventure of throw-down battles, but it’s really about parenting in its many shapes and forms. Go to Full Review

It's a fun journey with important themes that never talks down to its audience and an emotionally mature look at familial structures and the danger of letting one's pain dictate their actions. Go to Full Review

While “Ultraman: Rising” doesn’t rely on pre-existing knowledge of the legendary character, it’s a solid enough entry in the franchise that could help newcomers, kids especially, want to dive deeper into the mythology. Go to Full Review

Ultraman: Rising is a great on-ramp for people new to the Ultraman mythology. While it's filled with Ultraman lore and kaiju battles, it's also a universal story about parents and children. Go to Full Review

Zyrus C 09/17/2024 I tried to stay up but it was awesome. See more prawnda S @RT72497680 1h i think im not the only person who really disliked the scene where ken is pouring sauce onto his noodles, it goes on for way too long without it even being a joke, and the effects sound like he's urinating for the entire duration. his character was also unrelatable, cocky and unappealing to the point where i thought he was going to be the villain. i have no idea what baseball has to do with any of this, and i didn't find any part of the film very engaging. i could see if baseball was a brief setup for the character, but for the film to so consistently return to the diamond as i skimmed over the runtime left me unwilling to continue watching. we were pitched kaiju and robots. it's not that difficult to read the market research for a film like this. look at what happened with all the recent godzilla vs kong stuff: every single viewer hated the filler content and only wanted the action. See more Jorge M @GeorgeJMartinozzi 4d Ultraman: Rising was such a fun surprise. The animation looks amazing, the action is awsome, and somehow the movie ends up being way more emotional than I expected. I came for giant monsters and cool fights, but stayed for the characters. The relationship at the center of the story really works and gives the whole thing a lot of heart. Super entertaining from begining to end and honestly one of my favorite animated movies from the last few years. See more Bret M. @BretM-3 Mar 20 This is the first Ultraman project I've ever seen, but I loved it! This movie is a perfect jumping on point for new Ultraman fans. If you know nothing about Ultraman, you'll love this movie. If you love Ultraman and are a long time fan, you'll probably like it too! Firstly, the animation is awesome! This is one of my favorite animated movies because it looks simply amazing! It's beautiful and dynamic. The voice acting is also great, especially for the main character, Ken Sato. I also think in general this movie had a lot of heart. The main story about parenting and the relationship between parent and child is beautiful. The action is also great and the kaiju fight scenes rock! On point with some high budget Monsterverse Godzilla movies. The score is also great! In particular during a lot of the fight scenes they add a nice rockin' electric guitar score! In conclusion, if you're an Ultraman fan or just a kaiju fan in general, this movie is great! I think even casual fans will like this See more Christopher W. @thechriswest Mar 6 I was baffled by how incredible this movie was. So heartwarming, full of such powerful messages. I really hope that Netflix keeps this story going, there’s so much potential. Hidden gem See more movie ranking Jan 25 Hey Ultraman I love your movie See more Read all reviews
