What to Know

Critics Consensus

A visual and aural assault on the senses, this vampire-werewolf sequel makes a lot of noise and features a heavy-handed, overly convoluted story.

Tasha Robinson AV Club Underworld films are a highly specialized taste, and those who've acquired it know who they are. Everyone else should give this one a wide berth. Rated: C- Nov 27, 2006 Full Review Stephanie Zacharek Salon.com The plot is so convoluted that missing even five minutes at a stretch won't make any difference in your comprehension of the story. Oct 7, 2006 Full Review Jim Schembri Sydney Morning Herald The digital critters look much better than in the first film, it's fun seeing Derek Jacobi and Bill Nighy vamp it up, and the sight of Kate in that suit makes it worth squinting through all the murk. Jul 1, 2006 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review With more sloppy computer graphics rendering more fantastical movie monsters, the sequel boasts a lot of digital fakery directed without much grace. The result is dark and noisy and sorta fun to chuckle at, not with. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 3, 2024 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine The plot remains a rambling nonsense of ancient evil, clan rivalries, and hidden history. Rated: 4/10 Sep 4, 2020 Full Review Joshua Starnes ComingSoon.net While it is still plagued by many of the same problems of the first film, Underworld: Evolution is generally an improvement over the original and an entertaining diversion. C H Not quite as good as the first but certainly exceptable Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Alex r This movie improved on a movie that was peak vampire fantasy. The introduction of the alphas vampire and werewolf was genius. The fact it worked so well was above and beyond what anyone could ask for. Worth watching and repeat watches. The lycan look amazing but the alpha werewolf is a thing of beauty. The vampire alpha appearance is iconic and so creative. Worth watching and showing non believers that Vampires can be epic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Travis B Got a little weird towards the end but im still on board. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review William B One of my favorite movies and in my opinion, the best entry in the Underworld series. I had a damn good time watching this and I sure won't forget it anytime soon. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review Korra N Over-the-top dialogue and acting help make Underworld: Evolution an entertaining action-horror romp, but the script also rushes through the story & world, making this anticipated sequel feel a bit empty after the very surprising first film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/07/24 Full Review Sean G This movie is the true final chapter of the underworld movies and selene's character arc went from epic to extreme excitement and the fights are just truly pure awesomeness definitely a must watch for the spooky season 👏 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/30/24 Full Review Read all reviews
