John Anderson Wall Street Journal It can be defined in a number of profitable ways: a crime thriller, an anatomy of police interrogation techniques, a parenting story and an immigrant fable -- one in the classic tradition, rather than one that fits any narratives currently being promoted. Apr 11, 2024 Full Review Nick Schager The Daily Beast It’s consistently engaging, but also not much more revealing than a quick perusal of Jennifer’s Wikipedia page, and the fact that its real-life saga may not be over only amplifies the impression that it’s less than the full story. Apr 8, 2024 Full Review Alison Lanier Pajiba It makes small nods toward moments of possible insight -- but none of them land. The story is there for shock value, compiled and shoveled out to stream. Apr 29, 2024 Full Review Tara Bennett IGN Movies Without participation from Jen or anyone else directly involved other than the police who investigated this home invasion murder, it comes across as cold and impersonal where other similar stories create empathy and understanding. Rated: 6/10 Apr 23, 2024 Full Review Jennifer Green Common Sense Media Still, there are enough compelling elements in What Jennifer Did to keep most viewers enthralled, despite likely knowing generally what happened from the beginning. Apr 18, 2024 Full Review Eric Langberg Everything's Interesting What Jennifer Did seems to have used AI to generate photos of Jennifer. Especially in true-crime, that’s unforgivable ... What can we trust here, if we can’t trust Jennifer, the cops, or the person who made the movie? Apr 18, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/20/24 Full Review matthias s "What Jennifer Did" is a true crime film that dives into the chilling case of Jennifer Pan, who calls 911 to report her parents have been shot, only to become the primary suspect. As a true crime enthusiast, I appreciated the film's commitment to authenticity, particularly its use of real interrogation footage, which added a gripping layer of realism. Watching Jennifer's demeanor shift under questioning was a fascinating glimpse into the psychological intricacies of the case. However, despite its compelling start, the film falls short in terms of unpredictability. The narrative unfolds in a predictable manner, lacking the shocking twists or noteworthy revelations that often define the genre. The storytelling felt linear and straightforward, which made it easy to foresee the film’s key developments. As a result, it didn't quite deliver the suspenseful experience I look for in true crime stories. Overall, "What Jennifer Did" is a solid watch for those interested in true crime, but it doesn’t break new ground. It offers an intriguing yet unsurprising look into a well-known case, making it worth watching for the real footage but not necessarily for the narrative depth or unexpected turns. I’d give it three stars. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/28/24 Full Review Georgan G I view this as a sad psychological drama. The pressure this girl grew up under is a form of abuse, in my opinion. She had few options, from her standpoint. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review M R using AI generated results to pass as facts? might as well have AI generated the interviews and the documentary script, and have it AI edited. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/28/24 Full Review Hugh H I wish there was more info not found online. Reading Wikipedia tells you the entire story. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/24 Full Review Dave C S’alright. Bit bland and monotonous, with it being pretty clear from the outset what we’re expecting the outcome to be. In many ways, it would have served the documentary better if the team waited until after the new trials had been completed Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews
