Robert E. Sherwood LIFE After writing flagrantly destructive criticism for years, I can at last step forth and say, positively, just why it is that most movies fail: it is because so few of them have Dolores Costello in the cast. Oct 5, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member When the film played in the theater the audience was amazed at the sound from the speakers, not the orchestra. This was a re-teaming of Barrymore and Costello after The Sea Beast. It is an adaptation of the novel Manon Lescaut. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member just OK silent period picture Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This film has truly everything it....Chases, Romance, Action & Drama. It's a true tour de force of Cinema a silent must see. I was fortunate enough to see this film at the opening night of the annual silent film festival at Pordenone Italy & to see on positive 35mm tinted was an unforgettable experience. The film is simply what a man (John Barrymore) does for love & the situations he finds himself in. It's a larger than life film set in Paris in the 1800's. A must see silent classic.
