Michael Sragow Film Comment Magazine Wind River ultimately aims to be an existential survival movie, but that aim is rarely true. Mar 8, 2018 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Sheridan ends his story brilliantly, the last ten minutes a startling display of emotional elasticity that left me flabbergasted. Rated: 3/4 Sep 22, 2017 Full Review Ryan Gilbey New Statesman Most of the dialogue would look good on a series of commemorative tea towels. It certainly doesn't belong on the lips of an actor as gifted as Renner. Sep 14, 2017 Full Review Benedict Seal Vague Visages Wind River is a well crafted, but straightforward, thriller with an interesting setting and social context. Dec 5, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies Sheridan’s direction matches his screenwriting – steady and assured. His knack for pacing keeps the story bumping along all while building tension and fleshing out his characters. Rated: 4/5 Aug 21, 2022 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Through every snowflake and gunshot, Taylor Sheridan cuts to the marrow and keeps "Wind River" firmly on track with its layered stages of discovery. Todd F It would be easy to handle this material with a heavy hand, but there is a lovely subtlety and very moving undercurrent of grief throughout. The writing, performances, and direction are first class. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review Michael D Not entirely sure how or why, but this one touches my soul/heart/senses. Dialogue is on, acting is outstanding, miss Olson rises above anything else I have ever seen her do, mr Renner nails his bit like a hammer, mr Sheridan showcases a masterclass of restraint without sacrificing pace or story, Mr Greene delivers and so does everyone else. I once fell in love with the original Bladerunner. This one has the same effect; I love it and it isn't even a happy movie! It should make me unhappy, but I just love watching it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/09/24 Full Review Audience Member The movie is full of cliches. There is nothing but cliches in this movie at all. Important plot points are not based on real history, they are just boring and not logical ideas of the creators. Most of the character lines have no ending. The main character has no personality, he's just a very good archer. There is no detective story, everything is boring and predictable. The theme is important, but the movie is very superficial and full of cliches. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/01/24 Full Review Audience Member Excellent movie, other than Sicario, this was one of Taylor Sheridan's best. Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen were outstanding although there could have been more development between the two in the beginning. There weren't any big twists in the simple plot, so it was fairly predictable. But I like how it all came full circle in the end and Jeremy Renner finished it. I thought it was funny how they cast Kelsey Chow (Yellowstone, Don't Move) as Nathalie when Kelsey is half White/Chinese. Plus Kelsey was 27 when this movie came out but she acted as 18 in this movie lol. Aldo, I guess only Asians can tell the difference between hapas and native americans? Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review Jay W Critics may argue that this movie is nothing more than a feature length version of an episodic police procedural. And honestly, that would be enough. But this one also includes great actors doing great acting. Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olson are bringing out their A-game and acting the crap out of their scenes. It has a cool setting, one that adds a lot of personality and dimension to the story. Throw in some great visceral action. And top it all off with some great characters who go on compelling character arcs, and you got yourself a great action thriller. Straightforward no nonsense good stuff. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/20/24 Full Review Marty R Heart wrenching to experience but so important. A film that raises awareness of the plight of indigenous women and their struggle to be seen/heard. The acting is poignant, the mystery is intriguing, and the anguish is palpable. Well worth your time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review Read all reviews
