Carol Midgley Times (UK) This is candyfloss TV selling British eccentricity, which is probably why it has got a fourth series. Rated: 3/5 Jun 15, 2020 Full Review Melinda Houston Sydney Morning Herald Like all the bucolic, bloodless murder mysteries, Agatha Raisin tiptoes around some pretty unsavory stuff... But its charm is that it does stay upright on that tightrope, and the calming comfort of a picturesque English village never wanes. Mar 23, 2020 Full Review Larissa Dubecki The Age (Australia) Suspense is to Agatha Raisin as pineapple chunks are to space travel, but fans will lap up Ashley Jensen's schtick. Mar 3, 2020 Full Review Anne Brodie What She Said Agatha's deep well of confidence, humour and ingenuity make this a fun time, but in no way does she resemble the village ladies of the past who solve murder mysteries. Audience Member S1 and S2 are typical British countryside detective comedies. Good writing and characters. Stop there and don't watch S3, you will be happier. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved S1 and S2, and was eagerly anticipating the third. I was so disappointed in the storylines and the change in Agatha's character. She was mean and bitchy to the other characters, and cold and unsupportive to James. Their relationship could have worked if the writing were done better. Charlie's better off as a playboy. Agatha said many hurtful things to Bill and Toni and she treats Roy like a slave. She has become unlikeable, a narcissistic, bullying harridan. I hope the writing in S4 is better. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Season 1 and 2 were light but OK. 3 onwards is truly awful. Nasty cheap production and pulp writing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Season 1 and 2 were fun, entertaining, and enjoyable to watch. The cast, crew and writers were spot on! So what happened with Season 3 because it is awful. Agatha is over the top and Gemma's replacement doesn't seem to be working. If you are listening please bring back the writers from Season 1 and 2. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Disappointed with S3, I turned off. Loved series 1 & 2 and looked forward to S3. Who changed the format? What wise crack wrote plots? Why break what was working? Not impressed messing with Agatha! Sorry, Ashley, love you, but need to save S4 & revert to series 1 & 2 for writers and actors. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Several changes in style, cast and setting diminished this season compared to the first two.
