Superheroes are often as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and sometimes even as revered as gods. But that's when they're using their powers for good. What happens when the heroes go rogue and start abusing their powers? When it's the powerless against the super powerful, the Boys head out on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the Seven and Vought, the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. Based on the comic book series of the same name.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Boxing in the political arena with a bloodied smile, The Boys' fourth season is grim and even a little glum while holding up a cracked mirror towards modern society.

Alex Abad-Santos Vox At the heart of The Boys is a brash deconstruction of the superhero fantasy, taking apart the traditional comic book superhero arc where super-powered beings save the day and defend those who can’t defend themselves. Jun 26, 2024 Full Review Richard Lawson Vanity Fair There are pleasures, if you can call anything on this show pleasant, to be found in season four, even if it struggles to wrestle true meaning from its annihilating riot. Jun 12, 2024 Full Review Brian Lowry CNN.com The series might have lost some of its freshness but not its ability to surprise and provoke, peeling back its mask a little further to issue a warning about the danger of brightly colored fascism. Jun 12, 2024 Full Review Anthony Morris ScreenHub The series might be called The Boys, but it’s Starr’s star turn as Homelander that people come to see. Initially he was the antagonist; now he’s the lead in all but name Rated: 4/5 Sep 26, 2024 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked After Season Four, it’s the show I would most love to see age into complete incomprehensibility, but I recognize that it’s probably too much to hope for. Aug 28, 2024 Full Review Jackie K. Cooper jackiekcooper.com More sex and gore but less character and plot. Rated: 6/10 Jul 30, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Gareth v While not as strong as the previous seasons, this is still one entertaining and grim ride. What thing this show does well is hold a mirror up to modern day society (particularly in America) and here is no exception. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/22/24 Full Review BL Z It's just another conceit of the left that conservatives are only now realizing that the depiction of the villains of the show was just another media jab at the right. It was always obvious, but tolerated because of the uniquely grotesque and bizarre, but engrossing, nature of the show. People still rooted for Starlight and Butcher, et al., to prevail over the cartoonishly depicted Homelander leftist-imagined stereotype. Not content with that status, of course, the biased producers and creators had to push it even further into overblown mockery and political theater. Novel slasher porn can only take you so far, before undeserved self-righteousness pushes storytelling nearly out of the picture. Too bad they couldn't stop themselves from going there. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review Dark H No direction, sloppy character arcs, filler, and rambling plot progression plague this season. I found myself so bored that I was on my phone more than watching the show. Disappointing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/24 Full Review Mahdi M Why this show hates its fans now.....I mean it became big and successful thanks to us Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/19/24 Full Review Jason A Definitely the lowest of all three seasons however it was still exciting to watch. I understand the intention of involving more politics than action. The point of season 4 is to build up the finale season and up the stakes even more. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/17/24 Full Review W R A The formula has gone stale. Season 1 was a great well written show, but this isn't at all. Post-superhero fatigue has just become genre fatigue. They have nothing else to say and whatever they ARE saying isn't important at all. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/16/24 Full Review Read all reviews
