What to Know

Critics Consensus

Startlingly disturbing despite its outwardly fuzzy appearance, Eric is a perverse genre-bender that may not fully articulate all of its ideas but offers a memorably demented binge.

Graeme Blundell The Australian The show's ambition, its empathy, central performances and committed direction make for compulsive, if at times harrowing, viewing... Jun 14, 2024 Full Review Mark Kermode Kermode and Mayo's Take (YouTube) The soundtrack alone... it's a real celluloid jukebox soundtrack. Jun 5, 2024 Full Review Judy Berman TIME Magazine It’s only the quirkier half of Eric, an unfocused, inconsistently written, and wonderfully acted show whose ambition is admirable and originality rare in an increasingly formulaic crime genre. Jun 4, 2024 Full Review Ally Ham The Review Geek There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you engaged when watching this crime drama. Still, Eric struggles under the weight of everything it tries to accomplish. Oct 8, 2024 Full Review Diane Carson KDHX (St. Louis) With enough issues for several series, “Eric” masterfully interweaves personal and professional crises with incisive, sobering social critiques devoid of melodramatic exploitation. Aug 7, 2024 Full Review Romey Norton Film Focus Online Overall, Eric is a seriously entertaining series, with twists, turns and torment. One of Benedict Cumberbatch’s more interesting performances - it’s not one to miss. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 22, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Jerry N You have to be a total psychopath to so calmly react to the disappearance of your son, both mother and father. Not believable for a second. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/02/25 Full Review Everett B Cumberbatch’s character, Vincent, has absolutely no redeeming qualities. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/25 Full Review Ash W Fantastic acting. All the reviews that say it's trying to do too much are so depressing. When four story lines are too much, that's how you know the audience's attention span is shot to hell. Not only does this series deserve accolades for trying to do more, it deserves them for doing more well. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/25 Full Review Tom P A good story line that keeps you glued to your seat. Kept a good pace despite having so many convoluted storylines going at once, until the end when some arches were rushed and/or left open to give most all of the screen time to Benedict Cumberbutt. Acting was superb. McKinley Belcher Was the real star of the show and his character was the driving force throughout the series, providing one of the better dark and gritty mystery detective performances you’ll ever see. Despite some laugh out loud moments of Benefit Lumberjack overreaching way too far with his character he was actually tolerable for the most part; portraying a pompous, self indulgent, ass hat that fit his acting well went a long ways towards that end. Overall a solid B Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/25 Full Review Grant B Wonderful performance from an exceptional cast. This series is a unique perspective of family dynamics, loss, substance abuse, and the homeless. The story line isn’t always a tidy, but neither are real issues in a broken world. It requires an open mind willing to accept the perspectives and truths of other lifestyles and convictions. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/24/24 Full Review Snacky S An unusual and interesting concept Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/14/24 Full Review Read all reviews
