      Season 3 – Cheers

      1984 Comedy List
86% 7 Reviews Tomatometer 94% Fewer than 50 Ratings Audience Score Laid-back Sam Malone, a former relief pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, owns and runs Cheers, a cozy bar in Boston. He hires smart, uptight -- and jilted -- Diane Chambers as a server, out of sympathy, but their attraction causes constant bickering. Wacky characters fill the bar: sarcastic waitress Carla, beer-loving accountant Norm, know-it-all postman Cliff. When Diane leaves Boston much later, Sam sells the bar, buys a boat and sails the world, but his boat sinks, so he returns. New, ambitious manager Rebecca Howe hires him back, but they love to hate each other too. Read More Read Less Watch on Fandango at Home Premiered Sep 26 Buy Now

Pamela Bone The Age (Australia) Although it is pure comedy, Cheers is a lot like Hill Street [Blues] in that it is busy, sophisticated and very clever, but brilliantly simple in concept. They're wrong, of course. Audience Member I've thoroughly enjoyed two sitcoms in my entire life, both before my "time" and this is one of them. Hilarious and fun. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review dave d If you don't LOL at at least one thing (and usually more) in every episode you may be in a coma. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The third season of Cheers sets a new course that gets a little more series, but still brings the laughs. This season marks the introduction of Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Frasier Crane and the tragic loss of Nicholas Colasanto (who played Coach). When Sam falls off the wagon and losses control in the wake of his breakup with Diane, she returns and, with the help of her new boyfriend Dr. Frasier Crane, attempts to help Sam get his life back together; but old habits die hard and Diane finds herself pulled between her feeling for Sam and her feelings for Frasier. The addition of Frasier is really good for the show, as he brings a new energy that allows the writers to re-work some of the character dynamics. Also, several notable guest stars are featured, including Carol Kane, Alison La Placa, and Michael Richards. After three seasons, Cheers remains incredibly funny and keeps getting stronger as it goes along. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
