      Season 11 – Cheers

      1992 Comedy List
88% 16 Reviews Tomatometer 97% Fewer than 50 Ratings Audience Score Laid-back Sam Malone, a former relief pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, owns and runs Cheers, a cozy bar in Boston. He hires smart, uptight -- and jilted -- Diane Chambers as a server, out of sympathy, but their attraction causes constant bickering. Wacky characters fill the bar: sarcastic waitress Carla, beer-loving accountant Norm, know-it-all postman Cliff. When Diane leaves Boston much later, Sam sells the bar, buys a boat and sails the world, but his boat sinks, so he returns. New, ambitious manager Rebecca Howe hires him back, but they love to hate each other too. Read More Read Less Watch on Fandango at Home Premiered Sep 26 Buy Now

Dave B Except for Woody Harrelson's hair and Kirstie Alley's shoulder pads, and the lack of modern tech used by the characters, the standard def video, mono soundtrack, and the 4x3 AR (which can be distracting due to the dead space on your TV), the show does not seem too dated (though those issues, in combination, do age the show). However, the acting, dialogue and humor remain top notch. The show gets much better after Shelly Long leaves, though some may disagree. The last season leans a bit too heavily into Frasier's character, at the expense of the rest of the talent, being that the successful Frasier spinoff was launching later the same year as this show came to an end. Under the right (lazy) conditions, once you start watching, it will be enjoyable and hard to stop. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Funny and original; featuring the voice of Hamm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I've thoroughly enjoyed two sitcoms in my entire life, both before my "time" and this is one of them. Hilarious and fun. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Steven R I liked a number of episodes, and I know it's just a sitcom, but to me, there still has to be a consistent logic. It annoyed me to know end when the employees, sometimes all at once, would suddenly trot off to one spontaneous adventure, leaving the bar unattended. Many times, half the cast would be lounging at home in the evening. We know that most of the cast came to work in the morning. So, at night, who the frick is running the store? Are we supposed to believe that the prissy Diane is going to crawl INTO the ventilator shaft to make repairs, where she becomes stuck? Why does no one ever pay for their drinks? Lilith was a great characters, but why in God's name would a serious, hard-working, stick-in-the-mud psychiatrist be doing hanging out at a bar downtown? Frasier's presence made sense, as he was in love with Diane, then lost all hope when she left him at the alter. Norm and Cliff were losers. It fit! But Lilith? And, if you're going to have a flirt or nymphomaniac, it doesn't work if you go with a less-than-attractive waitress named Carla Tortelli. What sane man would ever allow himself to be seduced by the likes of her? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/09/19 Full Review dave d A hall-of-fame sit com 'Cheers' ended on a high note. The best shows have the best timing and this was the perfect drop spot. 'Leave them wanting more' someone once said!! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member My favorite show of all-time. Seasons 1-5 are absolute perfection in acting and writing and directing. Kudos to all involved in bringing this show to television. Miss you, Coach Ernie Pantusso. R.I.P. dear Nicholas Colasanto. As Ted Danson eloquently and truthfully stated, "Nick was the heart of the show." I'm glad the show went on though because Coach would have wanted it that way. Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) It Is a dark, suitably melancholy atmosphere as the bar becomes a sight for sore eyes, a place that Is no longer a refuge. Feb 9, 2021 Full Review Noel Holston Minneapolis Star Tribune As Cheers writers had done so often over the course of 275 episodes, the Charles brothers danced up to the edge of easy sentiment, then spun away with a wink. Jan 15, 2021 Full Review Susan Stewart Detroit Free Press After all the hype... it would be a miracle if the last episode of Cheers could still move you. But then Cheers has always been at least a minor miracle. Thursday night's final episode of the 11-year-old NBC sitcom was a 98-minute masterpiece. Rated: 4/4 Jan 15, 2021 Full Review Jennifer L. Stevenson Tampa Bay Times Although punchy and poignant, the show didn't -- couldn't -- live up to the firestorm of hype that preceded the episode. No show couldn't. Jan 15, 2021 Full Review Diane Holloway Austin American-Statesman It was too long, too much of it was devoted to the worn-out romantic teasing between Sam and Diane and the final musings dragged on a bit. But it was still the best thing on television Thursday night, as it has been for a longtime. Jan 15, 2021 Full Review Ron Weiskind Pittsburgh Post-Gazette We waited 11 years for this? Last night's finale kept tantalizing us with possibilities that never quite materialized. Jan 15, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
