George R.R. Martin's best-selling book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" is brought to the screen as HBO sinks its considerable storytelling teeth into the medieval fantasy epic. It's the depiction of two powerful families -- kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars and honest men -- playing a deadly game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and to sit atop the Iron Throne. Martin is credited as a co-executive producer and one of the writers for the series, whose shooting locations include Northern Ireland, Malta, Croatia and Spain.

After George RR Martin's books ended, the show's mojo seemed to follow. It may have still constituted event TV, but in retrospect that was based on the strength of the fan community and massive marketing more than the material itself.

SHOCKING things happened just because they had shock value. They bore no connection to anything else that had happened before them. There was hardly any organic, believable storytelling leading up to those moments. Thus, they felt shallow.

Eu não estou acreditando no que fizeram com os personagens e a series em geral. Basicamente não tem explicação essa última temporada a não ser que quiseram realmente matar a série. Sinceramente fiquei mal com essa temporada. Depois de tudo que aconteceu e de todos esses anos esperando para ver a série e acreditando que seria uma das melhores séries que eu veria. Os diretores e escritores conseguiram literalmente matar a série. Poderia escrever um livro de tanta decepção que tive com esse final, mas por maior que fosse o livro ainda assim não descreveria o desgosto que eu sinto por essa última temporada e esse final.

The run up to the ending was not good. The ending was ok but there was no great battle of kingslanding and that dissaponts me. It was better if it was written differently!

Binge watched the show and I'm disappointed. Can't imagine having to wait around 10 years for... this. Every single character is obliterated by the writers. And when I say every character, I mean every character. Yes, even Drogon, which I didn't even think was possible. Despite previously caring for innocents, S8 Daenerys gleefully burns men, women, and children alive. Despite sacrificing his oath and reputation to protect the people of King's Landing, S8 Jaime declares he doesn't care for the citizens and never did. Despite previously being an intelligent spymaster, S8 Varys now openly commits treason under the same roof as the Queen. This goes for every character, no matter how much screen time they have. And there are no justifications provided for these switch ups. At least not adequate ones. It is astounding that not a single writer had a solid grasp on a single character despite writing them for so long.

I understand that people are unhappy with this season, and it wasn't as good as the other seasons, but I still love it. Game of Thrones is one of my favorite shows, and I had so much fun finishing the show with this season. I definitely recommend it for medieval fantasy fans!
