Often married but currently single, Rosemary is a free spirit whose nontraditional parenting style somehow has produced a son who is stable and responsible. Her recently divorced best friend, Jane, relies heavily on her kooky "manny," Horatio, to help raise her adolescent daughter, Annie, and baby, Sophie, now that Jane has returned to work. Emily, on the other hand, is an overachieving full-time mom whose home is a work of art and whose husband, Jason, is a selfless, sensitive New Age guy who wants his family to have, and be, the best. Ed Bark Uncle Barky Utterly without style or any relatability, In the Motherhood is about as funny as bleeding gums. Rated: D- Sep 24, 2019 Full Review Alan Sepinwall Newark Star-Ledger Not so-bad-it's-good. Just bad. Plain bad. Why am I watching this?-level bad. Jan 31, 2014 Full Review David Hinckley New York Daily News It's stunning that ABC's new sitcom In the Motherhood, built on stories of life as Mom, manages to come off as stiff, disjointed and curiously unlikable. Jan 31, 2014 Full Review Megan Basham WORLD If ABC wants In the Motherhood to resonate with moms, its writers should spend more time telling stories that reflect moms' actual lives and less time pitting one motherly stereotype against another. Oct 10, 2018 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba It feels like a show that should have a laugh track, and without it, it's hard to know where to fake laugh. The humor is forced, the pilot's storyline is trite and predictable, and the cast is completely wasted on bad material. Jun 14, 2018 Full Review Emily Ashby Common Sense Media This series reaps the benefits of good writing and a strong cast. Rated: 3/5 Jan 31, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews
