Macho New York Sun columnist Mike Logan has a bone to pick with his new boss. It's not bad enough she's a woman, although that's hardly a point in her favor with Mike. No, she's also his ex-wife, Kate Montgomery, who was married to Mike just long enough to produce a daughter, Abby, now 14 and one of the few things Mike and Kate can agree on. Watching the fireworks between these two around the office are Belinda, the tippling society columnist; jaded police reporter Ernie; Alan, the uptight financial reporter; and Donna, who idolizes Kate and thinks Mike is a pig.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

The notoriously retooled Ink's impressive pedigree gives it the practiced signature of a successful sitcom, but not even Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen's chemistry can help their uninspired characters make an impression.

Mike Duffy Detroit Free Press Mary Steenburgen has been a consistent Ink delight. As smart, up-front New York Sun editor Kate Montgomery, Steenburgen is the charming MVP of this comedy un-classic. Apr 6, 2021 Full Review Tom Shales Washington Post It's polished, plucky and professional -- and stunningly devoid of interest. Aug 20, 2019 Full Review Jeremy Gerard Variety [Viewers] tune in for the stars, and the stars of Ink -- individually and in tandem -- deliver. They're great fun to spend 23 minutes with. Aug 20, 2019 Full Review Barbara Righton Ottawa Citizen They're both just so-o-o-o irritating! Oct 20, 2021 Full Review James Endrst Hartford Courant The prognosis for Ink stinks. Oct 15, 2021 Full Review Tom Jicha South Florida Sun-Sentinel Ink is a waste of the talents of Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen. CBS ought to pay off its full-season commitment and move on.
