Aside from the fact that there was 1 chef with 2 sous chefs against 5 Iron chefs with no sous chefs, each Iron Chef got to make ONE dish in the time alotted while the challenger had to make FIVE dishes during that same time. Much respect to the challenger for being able to complete the challenge and keep the final decision close! Rated 1.5/5 Stars •  Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/24 Full Review Wobbles A I was ok with it at first, but then came the sturgeon episode. They had live fish, one chef dropped it and it landed hard on the steps. Sturgeon were falling off tables, gulping for air, taking forever to die. It's so easy to dispatch a fish, especially for so-called Eastern chefs, who mastered the Japanese technique of quickly and humanely dispatching fish. It takes seconds. But no, they just....had these beautiful fish, flopping on the floor, chefs chasing them around like it was a comedy sketch. How did they get away with this? Aren't there laws regarding animal welfare in the film industry? Like, I get it. I'm a carnivore. I know what happens to fish when they're caught. But there's just something deeply unsettling about having to watch these giant, magnificent animals slowly suffocating to death on camera, desperately flopping on the floor as they asphyxiate to death. Chef Tsai even referred to the sturgeon caviar as "baby fish", which didn't help. 🤢 I was already kind of disappointed with the vibe of the show with its manufactured drama and pretentiousness, but the sturgeon episode is what turned me off of the series completely. The only upside is the co-host Kristen Kish. She's like a Korean Ruby Rose, and I am so here for it. Rated 2/5 Stars •  Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/13/23 Full Review Clark G Just an abomination. Both Iron Chefs and Challengers seems to "too chill", some not even braking a sweat, lacks excitement for me. Chefs not at Iron Chef caliber I don't think. It's a reboot bust for me.
