"Whoever says crime doesn't pay is doing it wrong." Such is the slogan of world-class thief Daisy "Jett" Kowalski. Fresh out of prison, Jett's retirement plans don't last very long when powerful crime lord Charlie Baudelaire offers her one "final" task in Cuba. The scheme not only reunites Jett with a former flame but sets off a chain of unexpected events that endangers everyone she cares for and pits her against ruthless criminals determined to exploit her skills for their own ends. Carla Gugino, best known for her action-filled turns in the "Spy Kids" film franchise, stars as the reluctant title thief.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Carla Gugino shines in JETT, a stylish -- if overtly violent -- noir that benefits from its willingness to crank its genre set-pieces up to eleven.

Emily St. James Vox Truth be told, Jett is maybe a little too pulpy for its own good... But Gugino knows exactly how to make Jett's kind of pulpy, hardboiled dialogue sing. Dec 3, 2019 Full Review Melanie McFarland Salon.com Jett invites everybody to vicariously revel in the story's sensual power and how the title character moves with it, channels it. Jun 21, 2019 Full Review Steve Greene IndieWire It's not a reinvention, but there aren't many versions of this story that have done it with more style. Rated: B Jun 17, 2019 Full Review Alex Behan The Post NZ It's a slick riff on La Femme Nikita, expertly teased out into long-form television by Sebastian Gutierrez. Nov 12, 2021 Full Review Brian Grubb Uproxx Jett knows exactly what it is selling and sells the hell out of it. Nov 19, 2019 Full Review María Fernanda Mugica La Nación (Argentina) Jett surprises with its puzzle-like structure and a protagonist that carries on her shoulders the weight of a plot that requires attentive viewers. Carlos G What a great show! Carla Gugino is a great actress (and so sexy). The show is a real gem. As with other tv shows like Banshee this show must have escaped so many people. No Reason for this to have only ONE season. So many GARBAGE in tv show nowadays get renewed and excellent and original shows like this get cancelled. Why?!? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Stylish and well acted...but filled with entire character arcs that go no where. The central story beats don't always make "sense" and our central character seems to have random levels of scruples when it comes to killing people. Its still good...just sloopy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member If you're looking for stylishly filmed sex, nudity, violence, and violent nudity, then this is the show for you. If you want a plot that you can follow without taking notes or characters whose motivations are clear (and aren't just excuses for getting naked, having sex, or being violent), then you should look elsewhere. Another problem is that the ending is quite unsatisfying. Perhaps they thought they would be able to continue the storyline in a second season, but that doesn't seem to be happening. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The characters are 1 dimensional but it is entertaining. The acting is fairly good, however they really need to learn how to pronounce ‘Portsmouth' and other American City names. Also the Spanish accents are not anything I've heard. At first, I thought they were going for Russian but then they were speaking Spanish. Definitely filmed in Canada. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Jett was slightly better than average, a bit witty, some good violence, and a good cast. Which is why I was surprised it was canceled. I've seen pretty much every series on HBO, Showtime and Cinemax since I have premium package on DirecTV. This was one of those shows that passes the time but you will definitely set your season pass to record it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Emilio R Buena Serie, aunque algunas historias laterales disminuyen el interés general. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/02/20 Full Review Read all reviews
