Ginia Bellafante TIME Magazine Not surprisingly, such spoofs of pop culture are a staple of Mad TV's lineup, and some of its filmed movie parodies have been especially clever. Sep 11, 2018 Full Review Hal Boedeker Orlando Sentinel Best of all, like the SNL of old, Mad TV knows how to spoof commercials, with priceless parodies of Budweiser frogs and ''MacDumpsters.'' Sep 11, 2018 Full Review John J. O'Connor New York Times In short, there's no breakthrough material or personality as yet, but the cast is gearing up with appealing verve. Sep 11, 2018 Full Review Craig Tomashoff People Magazine It takes a lot to make Saturday Night Live look like a sharp, sophisticated show, but Mad TV's lowbrow stab at humor does just that. Rated: C- Sep 11, 2018 Full Review Scott D. Pierce Deseret News (Salt Lake City) Imagine a Saturday late-night comedy show with lame jokes, good ideas that fizzle, a liberal dash of tastelessness and vulgarity and a cast you've never heard of. Sep 11, 2018 Full Review Chris Hicks Deseret News (Salt Lake City) Fans of "MADtv" swear the show is much better than "Saturday Night Live"... but this collection of the first season's episodes demonstrates that the show is frequently very funny, in its own subversive way. Austin P Every bit as painful, racist, sexist, cruel, and unfunny as the original, which had as much to do with Mad Magazine as the Super Mario Bros. movie had to do with Super Mario Bros. Watch Cartoon Network's MAD instead! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/11/16 Full Review Audience Member So really very awful. They should just pull the plug because it's only getting worse. I feel bad for the MadTV All Stars. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member While your article was wonderful and very much hopeful, as was I, and other critics and fans, hoping that the reboot would live up to the once delightful series, I highly disagree. This reboot is an unfortunate shame and disappointment. The series was once a very unique and irreverent take on humor, with great sketches, writing, and an unmimicable cast to bring it to life! They WERE and ARE what was and is MADtv (original). This reboot seems like something entirely different that slapped the name MADtv on it in an attempt to carry the weight of its notoriety and lure in longtime fans. But having seen the new show, it severely lacks the original humor and direction that made the original MADtv. It feels like the tarnishing of a name of a once legendary sketch series brought on by a network that targets a different audience. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member No one like. CW take down disgrace Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
