      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Anna Faris and Allison Janney share an undeniable comedic chemistry, and if the jokes are sometimes too crass, Mom represents a sincere (and often witty) attempt to address addiction issues.

Lotus RAGRHGAHGAHAGAHAG okay so like. This show goes from joking to sincere in such a smooth way??? It handled the topic of LGBTQ+ relationships well? (to that one guy i saw complaining about it "90% of americans not wanting to see gays being spoken about) - keep crying bro L) K that's all have fun (Handled the idea of adoption well too love that for them) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review Viv R This the actors are great. My only caveat to that is the character Violet. In spite of Christie's trying so hard to make it work for her family, her daughter is Violet continues to blame & berate Christy and gives her mom no credit for what she did for her family and the sacrifices she made as a single mom with very little support. Violet is an entitled brat and takes no responsibility for her own mistakes. I do not watch the episodes that "Violet" is in Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/23 Full Review A. D It is not too bad, but it is not great either. It is an 'ok' movie to watch on a boring weekend night I find vulgarity and talks about sex/ genitals in almost each and every single episode quite distracting and off-putting. I like the actors and the characters they play. The story line keeps you always wondering ' what if' and 'what's next'. I will keep watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/29/22 Full Review viviana g I think it´s a good series that uses humour to talk about some taboo subjtects like additions. Very good performances. Robert Rorke New York Post [Anna] Faris is winning as a woman who has made every wrong choice a person can make. Rated: 3/4 Oct 17, 2017 Full Review Tim Molloy TheWrap Mom feels like more than an opiate. We're early in the 12 steps. But heart and commitment mean everything. Oct 17, 2017 Full Review Phil Dyess-Nugent AV Club The talk isn't dialogue-it's just gags, totally synthetic and rolled out by the yard. Rated: C Dec 16, 2013 Full Review Carla Monfort Espinof One of the biggest merits of the series is that it knows how to tonally integrate thorny issues into the comedy without trivializing them or jarringly pivoting towards a drama series. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 13, 2023 Full Review Jason Tabrys Screen Rant This is the kind of show that you want to root for. It's relatable, but if there is any shortfall right now, it may be in the comedy department, because while the show is funny at times, most moments are merely smirk-worthy. Oct 17, 2017 Full Review Lauren Le Vine Refinery29 Really, though I think it's because Anna Faris is just so damn likeable. Oct 17, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews
