Matthew Gilbert Boston Globe USA is promoting the show as an "original comedy"; let's see if they can put more truth in that advertising. May 8, 2014 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times The humor gets low at times, but the characters themselves do not; which is not to say that they keep their dignity. May 1, 2014 Full Review David Hinckley New York Daily News Playing House is essentially a tweaked remake of Best Friends Forever, a sitcom that washed out of NBC two years ago. Rated: 2/5 Apr 30, 2014 Full Review Jessica Johnson Time Out Chicago This is a show that depends strongly on its leading ladies being likeable, and yet it spends almost the entirety of its second episode painting them as shallow and insensitive, completely undermining that goodwill built up in its first half-hour. Jul 2, 2018 Full Review Joyce Slaton Common Sense Media Two besties and a baby comedy is saucy, but sweet. Rated: 4/5 May 13, 2014 Full Review Matt Roush TV Guide Expectations couldn't be lower for this unrequested reunion, which is why it comes as such a nice surprise that Playing House, while hardly anything new, provides a much happier showcase for these gals' effortlessly snarky chemistry. Audience Member love this series. The level of awkwardness and discomfort is perfect. The chemistry between the actors is nice, and the actors/comedians have a good sense of timing for the comedic as well as the emotional moments. It's fun to watch.
