Scott Bryan BBC.com Black Mirror has killed all anthologies and nearly all shows set in the near future, because any show that feels any way similar makes you wonder "why aren't I watching Black Mirror?" Jun 14, 2021 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald The less you expect the more you'll be pleased. Rated: 3/5 Jun 1, 2021 Full Review John Doyle Globe and Mail The most flinty, raw episodes are less about future-technology and more about human rage. Jun 1, 2021 Full Review Bethan Ackerley New Scientist Solos is a slickly produced, star-studded series, but beyond its cast – and an ethereal score from composer Martin Phipps – it has nothing to offer that hasn’t already been said, and said better, by someone else. Jul 19, 2023 Full Review Joly Herman Common Sense Media Visually grand and often compelling, the seven episodes of this series vary in quality... Is Solos timely? Yes. Is it well-written? It depends. Rated: 3/5 Jun 2, 2021 Full Review Charlie Ceates Cultured Vultures Solos feels like a theatre piece at its best - and a boring slog to get through at its worst. Koen H Although an amazing cast, this doesn't offer me anything else :/ Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/25 Full Review Were P I don't recommend binge-watching these. They are prompts to use to reflect on what you think about life and humanity. I connected with some better than others because of my life experiences. They are all superbly acted. But, the performance Constance Wu gave will be seared in my mind, on my heart, and in my soul for life. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/13/24 Full Review Samantha L Solos left me wanting more or thinking about what it could have been. It proves that a show’s actor is as good as its script. Although it was great to see some of Hollywood’s finest in their rawest form, from time to time we find them overacting to bring depth to a monologue that sits between average and below average. The themes had potential, but none we haven’t seen regurgitated over and over again by the show’s many predecessors who did them better. In spite of this, the 25-30 minute episode run time made it simple enough to get through all 7 episodes. My personal standout performances were Constance Wu and Morgan Freeman. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/05/24 Full Review Marcel d This is what happens when you entrust a strong script to strong actors. This is powerful short story writing supported by great acting. The comparisons to Black Mirror are nonsense. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/08/23 Full Review Paul J I've been told the 1st episode is the best of the series. After watching it, it's a hard pass. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Brooks Hubbert W The writing is so poor, it's embarrassing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/22 Full Review Read all reviews
