Randy Meeks Espinof As a good series based on shock value and constant reveals, 'The 8 Show' masters the cliffhanger... [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 12, 2024 Full Review William Schwartz HanCinema Right to the end, "The 8 Show" refuses to caricature even its most seemingly loathsome characters. All of them were driven to madness by the harsh, empathy-less world they lived in long before they accepted their invitation to the game. Jun 14, 2024 Full Review Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) The pacing is deliberate and urgent, without creating rushed storytelling, and when this is combined with the suspenseful and dreadful actions, the storytelling will grab you and compel you to watch. Rated: 4.5/5 May 23, 2024 Full Review Joel Keller Decider The 8 Show might be as dark as Squid Game, but it’s definitely more wryly funny... May 21, 2024 Full Review Pierce Conran South China Morning Post Viewers are likely to recognise The 8 Show as a blatant attempt to piggyback on the achievement of the most successful Netflix show of all time, but so long as they are being entertained they may give it more time. Rated: 3/5 May 18, 2024 Full Review Jonathon Wilson Ready Steady Cut Something fascinating happens in The 8 Show, but it’s fascinating for the wrong reasons. Hafidz N In The 8 Show series, each character has their own unique traits and distinct personalities, bringing freshness and unexpected twists to the story. However, I feel that certain disturbing elements—particularly the combination of violence and coercion—are somewhat inappropriate and may not fit well within the overall tone of the series. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/20/25 Full Review gyoo G I lowkey liked this show. And ts is nothing LIKE squid game bcz there are no games or anything they're forced to play. Stg some of yall js wanna find a reason to hate on smt at times 😭. I see no comparison with squid game. I genuinely recommend watching this is you wanna find smt short and exciting to watch ig Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/09/25 Full Review Audience Member In my opinion, this is a perfect show. I'm really wondering why it has so many bad reviews. Should uou watch it ? Yes and you won't regret it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/25 Full Review Audience Member Where is the Hate coming from, I mean alright there were some very unrealistic and unnecessary scenes but overall this was a very enjoyable and especially a very exciting tv show, it literally had me hoooked on the tv, after like the 3rd episode I couldn't stop watching it and that for a good reason, I really liked the 8 show and think that it is way to overrated, it is not as good as other shows like squid game or Alice in borderland but at least it is like the other shows very creative, overall a good show which I definitely recommend. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/25 Full Review Brian L Entirely predictable. A really rotten attempt at recreating some of the other successes—squid game/alice in borderlands. I’d rather watch paint dry. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/25 Full Review Greg M One of the biggest failures of this show is the assumption that entertainment has to go down the path of mayhem, destruction and inhumane brutality when this very thing is exactly what we would expect them to do. Had the show focused on such meaningless tortures having zero audience reaction, I might have seen it as something fresh and unique. Instead, it is no different than every other clone of Running Man, Squid Game, and the rest of the dystopian apocalyptic game show rip offs you can think of. I am personally sick of this kind of garbage. I don't need another show where we have characters that make our blood boil. Where the astoundingly idiotic actions of the characters infuriates us by the sheer stupidity, lack of self preservation, or obviousness of the situations they are in. Like wondering why anyone in the Walking Dead would choose to not close a door behind themselves. That isn't a sign of success. That is a sign that I should turn it off mid season and never look back. Aren't we all just tired of idiocy for the sake of propelling a story arc that needs to find a convenient way to slip in? Do we really need another obvious social commentary like class inequality and warfare? Like we don't know it already and aren't just waiting for the day when we all collectively hear some kind of good news for a change? You could go on forever. But the only thing this stupid 8 show did that the others didn't have the nerve to do... I mean, besides A Clockwork Orange... is choose to go all the way down the path of depravity and act like that's what the audience was really craving. I personally liked Squid Game. It's not like I'm throwing a fit because nothing is wholesome anymore. I just can't stand the wave of trash that follows successful stories where the only thing they can think to do to compete is turn it up to 11. Just solidly weak. What can I say? Watch this if you want. But let me assure you that the first time your blood boils will not be the last. It's like the writers were on a crusade to piss the audience off as much as humanly possible. It gets 1.5 stars because there is occasionally something decent thrown in there. Something mildly unexpected. But certainly not enough to get me to advise anyone on wasting their time with this joke of "entertainment" Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/25 Full Review Read all reviews
