What to Know

Critics Consensus

A dense mystery with nods towards moral ambiguity, Better Sister is too derivative for its surprises to properly land but gets a dramatic lift from the appealing pairing of Elizabeth Banks and Jessica Biel.

Roxana Hadadi New York Magazine/Vulture Dickens has long been a character actor who can, as Billie Eilish would say, hit hard and soft, exuding both soothing gentleness and no-nonsense authority. Jun 6, 2025 Full Review Verne Gay Newsday Sharply crafted show, but far too long at eight hours. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 4, 2025 Full Review John Anderson Wall Street Journal Judging by “The Better Sister,” a series can start out being stupid and obvious and eventually make fun of the stupid and the obvious, all the while upscaling its own genre. May 30, 2025 Full Review Rachel Ho Exclaim! In spite of its binge-worthy promise, The Better Sister concludes as unremarkable television. Jun 17, 2025 Full Review Jackie K. Cooper jackiekcooper.com The better actress? Elizabeth Banks Rated: 6/10 Jun 16, 2025 Full Review Polly Conway Common Sense Media Though it doesn't introduce any new elements to the mystery/thriller genre, this series is hard to stop watching. Osman O Jessica Biel still looks amazing at her age. She’s so beautiful and fine. This show had me intrigued from start to finish. Definitely recommend this show. Great acting, suspense, drama, thriller. And plot twists. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/17/25 Full Review Kristina S Great actor play, prolongated story with something wrong bothering you all the time as watching it Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/15/25 Full Review Chris W The first episode was a good "gotcha". Whodunnit? It became a bit uneven in spots but was a lot more entertaining than much of the drivel out there. The ending left me a bit confused. Worth a look. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/13/25 Full Review Lala B Overall good. Somewhat predictable. Jesica Biel is so underrated as an actress. Her performance was outstanding and I hope she’s acknowledged for it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/13/25 Full Review Bix M L I knew who did since the second part. It really is so predictible. And why so long? And why are the cops not doing a good job, just being stereotypical jerks? And why does the mother who did it not freak out they put her son in jail? Howwwww and whhhyyyy? Not a lot makes any sense here. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/12/25 Full Review Bernard D The series had a lot of promise based upon trailer and the cast but man is it slow.
