Putting together a magazine is not an easy task, requiring a lot of teamwork to finish the job and get the publication on newsstand shelves. That's why the staffers responsible for producing global women's magazine Scarlet lean on one another as they try to find their own voices. While working together to publish each issue of the periodical, they struggle to find their identities, manage friendships and find love. The drama series is inspired by the life of longtime magazine editor and executive Joanna Coles, who serves as an executive producer.

Natalie Autostraddle It feels like The Bold Type is re-emphasizing one of the things that makes the Kat/Eva storyline problematic: diminishing the show’s lead black character to bolster the bonafides of its white ones... Apr 12, 2022 Full Review Iyana Jones Bitch Media It becomes clear just how little this supposedly feminist club cares about its marginalized members and workers, and how little The Bold Type cares about protecting Edison's character. Mar 16, 2021 Full Review Allison Shoemaker AV Club Tiny Jane's arc is a glaring sour note in an otherwise impossible confection: A heart-on-its-sleeve, good-for-you affair that's also a glossy, giddy comic workplace drama. There may be the odd off issue, but we're still ready to renew our subscription. Rated: B Jan 22, 2020 Full Review Siobhan Downes The Post NZ While I'm perfectly content in the Stuff office, it's nice to escape to the Scarlet fashion closet every now and again. Jul 20, 2020 Full Review Tarisai Ngangura Jezebel The Bold Type is a nonserious show that through its four seasons has tried to deliver serious goods, often with a predictable, candy-coated outcome. Jul 17, 2020 Full Review Linda Maleh Forbes Has heartbreak, romance, defiance, and big life decisions. In short, it has all of the feels. Mar 30, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Bunch of girls who always land on their feet. Think charmed without the book of shadows. These girls have an accessories closet. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member love it ... kat deserved better tough ... but still we want (at least) another FULL season Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a fantastic season. Season 4B gave us some of the best episodes of the series. The only downside was the oddity that is Kat and Eva's relationship. It is intriguing, but does not feel realistic; it is portrayed far too charmingly than it deserves. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review anita k This new season is utterly disappointing. They did Kat dirty without any reason, her storyline just does not make any sense at all. I feel like the magic is gone and I could not care less about any of the characters anymore. It's time to wrap it up with a final season. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The only thing keeping me going is Kat and her interesting relationship/life, like I'm so eager to know her fate with the lawyer chic, the hate/love tension between them. As for the rest of the cast I found them a lot whiney and self sabotaging to be honest, "always me me me and my pain". That's not what women are about, it made us look weak and selfish, Jane was all about her boobs this entire season and Sutton was all about her designing job the entire season but Kat has had quite the adventure. And they talk and cry way too much I had to start fast forwarding to Kats scenes. Sorry but we need more sex and the city vibes with those 3 beautiful ladies.
