      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Despite some impressive performances, The Comey Rule's chaotic approach to current events clarifies very little, further obscuring the facts of already confusing circumstances without adding much insight.

Doreen St. Felix New Yorker The chief irritant of the show is the knee-jerk splicing of the dramatic action with cable-news footage... Oct 7, 2020 Full Review Charles Bramesco Guardian Ultimately, it all comes back to the same surplus of good faith coloring the depiction of Comey. Rated: 4/5 Oct 7, 2020 Full Review Ed Cumming Independent (UK) A surprising amount of tension builds around outcomes we already know. But at three and a half hours, it is far too long, and too often slips into the kind... portentousness Americans are so fond of showing towards their major institutions. Rated: 3/5 Oct 5, 2020 Full Review Pradeep Menon Firstpost A bland attempt at decoding politics... Oct 17, 2023 Full Review Jonathan Roberts The New Paper (Singapore) Brendan Gleeson's eerily accurate take on the US president is astounding. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 30, 2020 Full Review Jim Schembri jimschembri.com With its high production values, strong ensemble cast and swish cinematography 'The Comey Rule' creates the mirage of classy event television. Yet it isn't so much a TV drama as a cleansing ritual. Rated: 2/5 Oct 20, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

B O The worst series I’ve ever seen. Jeff Daniel’s was terrible and the Trump character was very over exaggerated. A waste of my time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/05/24 Full Review Dalene J Understanding that the miniseries was biased, it was disturbing to see Clapper and Brennan make remarks like "the dossier hasn't been disproven" rather than we've been unable to prove any of the allegations. The politically based assumptions made by CIA and many in upper echelons of FBI are horrendous in hindsight, now knowing the dossier was commission by Clinton and her cohorts and the "Russia, Russia, Russia" collusion has been proven false. I'm not a Trump fan but Hillary got away with so much from Benghazi to Russian uranium sales, I'm inclined to disregard pretty much anything the media and entertainment industry defecate these days. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/28/24 Full Review Alex S Great acting, heavy political slant. Ultimately this is a show about how a guy who was good at his job, and had all the social skills to salvage the situation, threw it away because he didn't like his new boss. Senselessly emotional at times, with a viewing of history through a decidedly ideological lens. I hope people in DC don't really have this inflated sense of self-importance. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/01/23 Full Review william j Worth at least one watch. The filmmakers' meticulous attention to detail is admirable. If the tone is entirely too wooden at times. Some of that dour humorlessness is appropriate, however, given the stakes of the 2016 election and Washington D.C. folks' propensity to mythologize, glorify, and take themselves entirely too seriously. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Great performances, frustrating source material. Some of the subtle nuances are perfect though, especially Gleeson's demeanor and inflections (even the annoying, loud "sniffing" Trump is always doing) Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member A well done and still timely and important story.
