The fictional version of comedian Drew Carey is a hapless employee for Cleveland's Winfred-Louder department store, which becomes an Internet shopping site. His lifelong pals help him enjoy life while they share beer, a game of pool and genuine conversation. His nemesis is heavily made-up, tackily dressed co-worker Mimi.

Tony Scott Variety All amiable enough folks, they could use sharper dialogue and fresher observations. Sep 14, 2018 Full Review Ken Tucker Entertainment Weekly Unlike most airless sitcoms, The Drew Carey Show has a real sense of place and atmosphere Rated: B+ Sep 14, 2018 Full Review Howard Rosenberg Los Angeles Times What distinguishes the premiere is its tart writing and the qualities of its cast -- particularly Carey's intelligence, his offbeat, sardonic delivery... and his kinship with material that is largely an extension of his stand-up act. Sep 14, 2018 Full Review Dan Gigler Pittsburgh Post-Gazette The Drew Carey Show was never as cerebral as Seinfeld, as domestic as Everybody Loves Raymond or as dumb as Home Improvement, but it was simply funny. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 17, 2018 Full Review Dan Macintosh PopMatters The Drew Carey Show takes place in Cleveland, Ohio, another factor that makes this program special. Not since The Mary Tyler More Show, which was set in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has a show so nicely displayed life outside the usual major metropolises. Rated: 7/10 Sep 14, 2018 Full Review David Hiltbrand People Magazine Drew Carey is funny - even before he opens his mouth... The show's weakness is a negligible supporting cast, particularly Diedrich Bader and Ryan Stiles, who are all too repulsive as the slobby friends. Rated: B Sep 14, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
