See more James M May 14 I just rewatched the film, and it enhanced my appreciation of the tv show. The film was fresh and unique, but it actually developed quite slowly, and some of the characters/characterizations were just too silly. Napoleon and his alleged obsession with height was wildly overdone, for example. The tv show seemed more certain of its objective and achieved it better. It was a charming comedy with goofy characters, ultimately of reasonably good will. Even tho' the characters and situations were just as wild as the film, the tv show didn't dwell on the absurdity (or hit us over the head with it) but rather presented relatable characters reacting to absurd situations. Quite enjoyable, all in all.
