The title of "social worker" doesn't seem to justly describe Mark Lilly's job. Perhaps "social miracle worker" comes closer. He's the central figure in this animated horror-comedy series, set at the Department of Integration in New York, where Lilly begins the process of helping new citizens -- both human and "other" -- adapt to life in the Big Apple. Providing as little help as possible are his co-workers, including demonic bureaucrat Twayne, drunken wizard Leonard Powers, surly law enforcement head Frank Grimes and succubus Callie Maggotbone, Lilly's casual fling.

Christian Cintron Hollywood.com The series has the right level of irreverence for an adult animated series while still having some of the fun and whimsy of a cartoon. Kyle C Ugly Americans is a wildly underrated gem of animated television—an insane, twisted, and darkly hilarious ride through a version of New York City teeming with monsters, demons, and the downright bizarre. Its unique animation style perfectly complements the show’s sharp, irreverent writing, which brilliantly satirizes bureaucracy, relationships, and the absurdities of modern life. Every element clicks, from the relentless comedy to the devilishly clever world-building. The standout voice cast brings these characters to life with pitch-perfect performances—Matt Oberg’s everyman charm as Mark Lilly, Natasha Leggero’s sultry and chaotic Callie Maggotbone, Michael-Leon Wooley’s gloriously over-the-top Twayne Boneraper, and Kurt Metzger’s hilariously unhinged Randall Skeffington. Ugly Americans is one of the best animated series ever made, and it deserves far more recognition than it ever got. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/24/25 Full Review Nigel P Smart and hilarious! If you enjoy the whacky adult humour of Rick and Morty, watch this. And the created world of humans, creatures and hell beings living side-by-side is fascinating. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Ugly Americans season 2 manages to be extremely better than the first, more fun, funny, smart scripts. With much more developed characters and a huge universe of interesting creatures, making social criticisms that remain relevant with an intelligent and satirical humor, it is a pity that they canceled a show as good as Ugly Americans Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
