Anthony "Citric" Campos
Tony Campos was an American musician who was best known as the bass player for the popular Los Angeles-based industrial metal band Static-X. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Campos always knew he wanted to play music for a living. He picked up his first bass guitar when he was an early teen, and before long spent all hours of the day practicing it. In his teens Campos played mostly with kids in his neighborhood, but longed to be a part of something bigger. Then in the early 90s he met the guitarist Wayne Static, who was looking to form a new band after the demise of his previous group Deep Blue Dream. Static liked Campos' bass playing, and asked him to join his new group, Static-X. Together, along with Koichi Fukuda, the three of them formed what would become one of the most influential industrial metal bands of the 1990s and 2000s. Over the course of nearly two decades, Static-X released six studio albums and toured the world, while gaining a devoted fanbase in the process. The band released its final studio album in 2009 with Cult of Static, with Campos officially leaving Static-X the following year in 2010. After leaving Static-X Campos played in a number of other metal bands, including Ministry, Possessed and Soulfly. Then in 2015 he joined the industrial metal band Fear Factory, which was also based in his hometown of Los Angeles. Fear Factory formed in 1989 and had already released eight albums by the time Campos had joined in 2015. The band released its ninth studio album Genexus, with Campos on bass, in 2015. Fear Factory's tenth album was released in 2017, with Campos retaining his role as the bass player.
