Betty Carter was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. Carter started her entertainment career by acting in comedies like "The Monte Carlo Story" (1957) with Marlene Dietrich and Vittorio De Sica. She also appeared in the TV movie "The Homecoming" (CBS, 1971-72). She worked in series television while getting her start in acting, including a part on "Saturday Night Live" (NBC, 1975-). She also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Carnegie Hall Salutes the Jazz Masters" (PBS, 1993-94) and "1994 St. Lucia Jazz Festival" (BET, 1994-95). She also worked in television during these years, including a part on "The Cosby Show" (NBC, 1984-1992). Her music was featured in films like "The Parent Trap" (1998) featuring Lindsay Lohan and the Kevin Spacey smash hit dramedy "American Beauty" (1999). In addition to her music, Carter also appeared on-screen in "The Music of Kurt Weill: September Songs" (PBS, 1994-95). Carter most recently produced the drama "Fifth Ward" (2000) with The DOC.
