Cheryl Tiegs
The prototypical "California girl" with sparkling blue eyes and honey-blonde hair, Cheryl Tiegs was a popular poster girl in the late 1970s. Her all-American visage, svelte frame and stunning smile led her to become the quintessential world-famous supermodel in the 1970s and 1980s. She was best known for a long-running affiliation with Sports Illustrated magazine and its annual swimsuit issue which featured her several times on its cover. The 1978 SI pin-up poster depicting a sexy Tiegs with wind-blown locks, wearing a skimpy pink bikini, became an iconic pop culture image. After appearing in numerous photo shoots for high-profile fashion and beauty magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar and even on the covers of TIME and People magazine, she was able to parlay her lucrative modeling career into acting, as well as becoming an entrepreneur and clothing designer. Well into her sixties, the gracefully-aging Tiegs continued to represent the So-Cal chic image desired by American women of all ages.
