Daniel Alfredson

As the son of noted Swedish actor/director Hans Alfredson, it was perhaps inevitable Daniel would go into the family business. Alfredson made his first foray into TV with a brief acting role in a television adaptation of Birger Sjöberg's novel "Kvartetten, som sprängdes" (1973) directed by and starring his father, before working in the art department and as a set decorator on several Swedish productions. He worked as Assistant Director for several years before directing an episode of crime drama "Kvällspressen" (1992) and making his debut feature serial killer thriller "Mannen på balkongen" (1993). Directing and producing a succession of film and TV projects in his native Sweden, he won several awards on the European film circuit. However it was Alfredson's work directing the two sequels to Stieg Larsson's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" (2009) - "The Girl Who Played with Fire" (2009) and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" (2009) - that drew his work to the attention of the wider world. Meanwhile Daniel's brother Tomas Alfredson had also embarked on a successful film career most notably directing "Let the Right One In" (2009) and "Tinker Tailor Solder Spy" (2011). Daniel made his English language debut on British/Dutch co-production "Kidnapping Mr. Heineken" (2015) starring Jim Sturgess, Sam Worthington and Anthony Hopkins.
