TV triple threat, Julian Murphy is a writer, director, and producer of British television. After a few years working as a script editor during the early 1990s, Murphy became a producer in 1994, working on the sitcom "All Quiet on the Preston Front," which followed the misadventures of a motley crew of Territorial Army members in the North of England. In the mid-1990s he produced the crime drama "Dangerfield," a series that concerned a family practitioner and police surgeon. After producing several episodes of a remake of the classic adventure tale "The Scarlet Pimpernel," he produced the point-of-view-swapping teen series "As If," which while inventive, proved short-lived. His producing career took off a few years later with the rousing successes of the BAFTA nominated drama series "Sugar Rush," the love-triangle drama "Sinchronicity," which employed former "As If" cast members Paul Chequer and Jemima Rooper, and the supernatural drama "Demons," that follows the last descendent of famed Dracula-slayer Van Helsing on his quest to rid the world of evil. Murphy has found huge success with the sci-fi and fantasy crowd with "Merlin," a production of BC/SyFy/NBC which follows the legendary sorcerer as a young man, and of which Murphy has written 31 episodes.
