A prolific TV writer and producer, Mark Rodgers has credits on over 60 television series. Born in Nebraska, he got his start in 1958 as a writer on "Alcoa Theatre" (as Mark Rogers). He wrote multiple episodes of "Lawman" and "Checkmate" in the early 1960s, and earned his first production credit on the investigative series "The F.B.I." in 1968, in addition to writing for the show throughout its run. He also earned production credit on "The Quest"; "The New Adventures of Wonder Woman"; and "In the Heat of the Night," the long-running series starring Carroll O'Connor. His writing career stretched into the mid-1990s and he contributed scripts to some of the most popular police and detective shows of the era. He wrote or co-wrote episodes of "Kojak," "Police Story," "T.J. Hooker," and "In the Heat of the Night." He also produced "Dirty Dozen: The Series" (in addition to writing for the show) and two TV movies based on the popular guys-on-a-mission movie.
