Producer Mike Lobell is known for his rom-coms and light dramas of the '80s and '90s. His career, however, got off to a rough start. After producing his first film, "Dreamer," in 1979, Lobell earned his first Razzie Award nomination for Worst Picture the following year for "Windows," a would-be sexual thriller about a lesbian who hires a rapist to fulfill her fantasies. Lobell didn't stay down for long, producing the Oscar-nominated "The Journey of Natty Gann" in 1985, and continuing to court the Academy's attentions with the Oscar-nominated rom-com "Chances Are," starring Ryan O'Neal and a young Robert Downey Jr. Lobell continued to make light comedies throughout the 1990s, producing a handful of Nicolas Cage features such as "Honeymoon in Vegas" and "It Could Happen to You." But it wasn't all high points for Lobell. He produced the 1996s critically panned drama "Striptease," which starred Demi Moore and was written by Lobell's frequent collaborator Andrew Bergman, who also penned "Honeymoon in Vegas" and "The Freshman." In 2003, Lobell produced the well-received action thriller "Tears of the Sun" starring Bruce Willis as a leader of a mercenary team trying to save lives in revolution torn Africa.
