Scott Neustadter, one-half of the acclaimed writing team behind the breakout indie success "(500) Days of Summer" (2009), initially put aside his creative passion for a career in film production, but went on to find success when he followed his heart and wrote a film based on his own real-life heartbreak. He and writing partner Michael H. Weber first saw their names scroll in the credits of "The Pink Panther 2" (2009), but it was their sharp ear for dialogue and dedication to shining a light on the nuanced messiness of unreciprocated love in "(500) Days of Summer" that launched their name recognition. Admired for their ability to break free from comedy clichés and broadly drawn, shiny Hollywood characters, Neustadter and Weber sold half a dozen more scripts in quick succession and were approached to develop their own series, so hungry was Hollywood for the stripped-down, relatable relationship stories that became the writing team's calling card.
