Gia M One of my absolute favorite movies. It has a great script, wonderful music, an absolutely stellar cast (DiCaprio, Malkovich, Depardieu, Irons), and great acting. I just finished watching it again and am reminded once more of why it is one of my favorites. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/19/24 Full Review Pedro L Awesome movie, my favorite Leonardo DiCaprio acting, and the casting is really really great, I'd say it's a big cliché, but it's really well-made movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review jordan m I assumed going into my 9-film Musketeer adventure that this one would be an obvious highlight with its starry cast, but I was wrong - the dialogue was intensely corny, they took creative license with the source material as they should've but in doing so blew holes in the plot and the screenwriter seemed to put the tiniest amount of effort possible in injecting scenes with humor that should've either been abandoned or committed to. I'm sure the French actress they cast as the main lady is good in other parts but she seemed very miscast here in an English-language role as her dialogue felt forced and awkward; the same goes for DiCaprio as he's obviously great but he really buried himself here in an apparent effort to make fans forget his Titanic role. What the movie did have going for it was some noticeably good cinematography in both the lighting and shot selection departments, and I thought the film score was very effective. This ranks among my least-favorite Musketeer adaptations. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member There are so many version of the Man in the Iron Mask, I rather stuck on the version with Leornado Di Caprio and I think the other one was with Richard Chambarlain? Matt Brunson Film Frenzy It's an irresistible story, but the movie suffers from clunky dialogue and a barrage of mismatched performances that represent just about every school of acting known to man. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 9, 2024 Full Review Wesley Lovell Cinema Sight The film, written and directed by Randall Wallace, writer behind the pathetic Braveheart adaptation, does nothing exciting for the picture and can’t command more than a few decent performances.
