Audience Member Epic story with great soundtrack. The 80s show is way better than the recent version of the show Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Kyel b There needs to be two reviews one as the 11 year old that saw it back in 1979 and had just seen Star Wars the year before, I loved every single episode it was pure magic and five stars. Now for the adult me with nothing but warm memories rewatches it and thinks as a kid I must of been on crack, wtf campy crap is this one star, three for the models, sfx and sets. But that's unfair it's product of its time just as the 2004 BSG is of its time. Good dodgy fun. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/07/22 Full Review Audience Member Not as good as the new version..but was ok good effects for the time . Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Didn't have the chance to get into this when originally broadcast, so when this came up on TV this year, was quite keen to view, I am into really this genre and wanted to like it.....BUT OMG is it TERRIBLE. Anyone involve in this should be embarrassed (some very good actors took part). Despite apparent high budgets, scripts are unimaginative and derivative, dialogue is not up to much and some of the production values are very poor (chimp dressed up as robot dog), Victorian era rivets on a "futuristic high-tech Viper interceptor", electronic equipment shown is hilariously old fashioned, inappropriate and crude by today's standards etc etc. El cheapo episodes of the TV series based on current era Earth are especially pathetic. 1970's social attitudes (including being highly misogynistic) make some episodes cringe-worthy (to the point where I don't think its suitable by today's standards for children). You think I am being mean? Compare and contrast to another film of the same era, the 1972 film Silent Running- which shows how to do it.... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member As far as rip-offs go (think Star Wars), this one stand out due to it's story line construction. Actually, not a bad tele-film. The acting is...not great, but the special effects are pretty good. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Yeah... I'm not sure if I can get on board with this campy "classic". Granted, I was only watching a sloppy movie version of the first few episodes, and I should probably view it as intended, as regular TV episodes. But I don't know... it's pretty cheesy and a tad dull. The cylons look pretty cool though... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Ian Nathan Empire Magazine Although evidently a rip-off - there were hints of Lucas even taking the matter to the courts - this spacebound wagon train, whose limits are readily apparent, is great fun. Rated: 3/5 May 11, 2018 Full Review Arthur Knight Hollywood Reporter Richard A. Colla directed, and Robert L. Kimble led the team of editors faced with the impossible task of carving a masterpiece out of a monstrosity. What they got is a monumental turkey - and just in time for Thanksgiving. Nov 17, 2014 Full Review Time Out With strictly tele-standard acting, straightforward space opera plot, grandiose sentiment and slushy love interest, it's really only meat for genre fans. Jan 26, 2006 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) This is missing, surely, originality. [Full review in Spanish] Jan 17, 2024 Full Review Rob Gonsalves Rob's Movie Vault The film itself is as bad as it was on TV. Rated: D Dec 1, 2022 Full Review Graham Murdoch Starburst High on thrills and action and unhindered by scene after scene of heavy dialog. Jul 22, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews
